The St. Bernard is a very large dog that is part of the Mastiff family. Bred originally in the western Alps and Switzerland, these massive canines were used to find and rescue lost travellers. The weight of this breed can range from 140 to 260 pounds and they can stand anywhere from 28 to 35 inches tall.
