This now extinct species was once found in the Northern Atlantic from Maine to Scandinavia. A large flightless penguin-like bird, the Great Auk was a valued food source in historic times. It was ultimately driven to extinction by scientific collecting for museums and individuals. The last two known, living specimens were killed and collected in 1844 for European collectors.nnSpecifications:nn1:1 scalenPolyurethane resin castn2-part skull (separate cranium and jaw)nnSkull Length 15.2 cm (6 in.)nSkull Width 5.5 cm (2.2 in.)nSkull Height 5 cm (2 in.)nnOrigin: Northeast Atlantic
