Mesohippus was about the size of a large dog, standing roughly 2 feet (60 cm) tall at the shoulder. Unlike its earlier relatives, it had three toes on each foot, though the middle toe was larger and carried most of its weight.nIt had a longer face, larger brain, and stronger teeth than earlier horses.
